Painted and Stitched @ Jack Fischer SF

Jonathan Parker, in his most recent body of work, begins drawing simple shapes that fill a large notebook. Inspired by this, he then paints canvases with colors that later on he cuts into various shapes and arranges them onto another piece of canvas with a sewing machine. The sensibility of each finished piece speaks its own vocabulary and it is up to the viewer to reciprocate.
These paintings combine the artist’s fascination and passion for sewn fabric and shape to create color, form and feeling.
